There’s something about summers in Spain that feels almost cinematic—the way light lingers longer on whitewashed walls, how the sea sparkles with a thousand shifting tones, and how every corner seems to hum with life. These are the moments that stay with you: the slow strolls, the unexpected views, the gentle reminder that beauty often hides in the details we almost overlook.

I have always believed that the sea has the power to renew us: every sunlit view is like a gentle reset button for the soul. This year, I found that magic on the sunny coasts of Spain, from the vibrant heart of Nerja to the crystal-clear blues of Mallorca.

Nerja: architecture and green embrace

In Nerja, the architecture itself breathes: a charming palette of white, wooden windows and doors in shades of blue that match the sky, entrances that convey a timeless and welcoming feeling. As you know, I am a plant lover, and this was something that captivated me. The decoration of each doorway and balcony, window and patio, culture, gently reminding us that beauty often grows, literally, before our eyes.

Frigiliana’s stone-paved streets wind up and down like an enchanting labyrinth. Blue doors, wooden frames, and plants climbing freely around every corner transform each house into a living work of art, as if the residents had turned decoration into a language of their own. Strolling through Frigiliana means losing yourself in the details: a hanging flowerpot, a cool shade in the middle of the slope, a balcony that hides secrets behind its flowers. It is a village that invites you to look slowly, to discover beauty in everyday life.

The iconic Balcón de Europa, a panoramic promenade perched dramatically above the Mediterranean, invites you to linger. From here, the coastline stretches endlessly, cliffs dissolving into soft curves of sandy coves while fishing boats dot the horizon like brushstrokes on a canvas. It’s the kind of view that makes time stand still, where the salty breeze carries both the laughter of nearby plazas and the quiet hush of the waves below. Standing there, with sunlight warming your skin and sea air filling your lungs, you can’t help but feel restored, as if the ocean itself is gently reminding you to breathe a little deeper.

Mallorca: where water and sky become poetry

Mallorca greets you with colors that feel spun from dream. The water—Oh, the water!—shifts from turquoise near the shore to deep sapphire farther out, like liquid longing, stretching into the horizon. I’ve lost myself countless times just gazing, letting those shifting blues wash civilization away and leave me renewed.

But Mallorca is more than its landscapes—it’s a rhythm. Early mornings gift you calm beaches where the first light brushes the sea with silver, while evenings turn villages into golden canvases as the sun dips behind the Tramuntana mountains. Hearing the echoes of history in Palma’s Gothic cathedral, or simply pausing at a quiet cala where the waves arrive like whispered secrets, Mallorca feels like an island that teaches you how to slow down and savor time itself.

I am very grateful to be here, so close to these wonderful places. In the end, both Nerja and Mallorca reminded me of the best thing about summer: it awakens us. Whether it’s the quiet poetry of bougainvillea climbing up whitewashed walls or the infinite blues of the Mediterranean changing with the light, these places offer more than just beautiful views, they offer perspective. Walks along the seafront, laughter with friends, hours spent enjoying the sound of the sea. They slow us down, invite us to observe, and gently reset those parts of us that get lost in the routine. And perhaps that is the true magic of summer: not just the destinations we discover, but the way each view becomes a mirror reflecting the joy of simply being present.
